Jabra's Solemate Mini is a good little speaker for $99. We don't recommend for audio enthusiasts, but for listening to MP3s via Bluetooth in a casual setting, it performs well. It works with a range of different devices and the setup is quick and easy.

Bass overpowers clarity, No Bluetooth 4.0

Can get quite loud for its size, projecting a solid sense of bass and crisp highs. NFC-pairing enabled. Includes speakerphone functionality. Ruggedized, portable design.

DSP can limit dynamics at higher volumes. Not ideal for classical and other genres that are mixed with wide dynamic ranges. Lops off beginnings of tracks during navigation.

Finally, if you have a bit more room in your budget (and tote bag), consider the Bose SoundLink Mini, which offers a much fuller sound, or Jabra's larger, $150 Solemate, which is a better deal than it was at launch thanks to a $50 price cut, although...
