iPad Air (2019) review: A fantastic device | Trusted Reviews

iPad Air 2019 is arguably the best all-around iPad you can buy right now. Here's our full review and in-depth look at the tablet.

Great display;Solid performance;Long battery life;Super intuitive software

Design is beginning to look a little dated;Generation one Apple Pencil and older Lightning charge port

Apple iPad Air review (2019): Just right

The $499 iPad Air is a notable upgrade in almost every respect over the $329 iPad. It has a bigger, better screen, more storage and support for Apple's Smart Keyboard case. Unless you're on a tight budget, it's worth the extra cash and is probably the...

Excellent display ; Strong battery life ; Snappy performance ; Support for Apple’s Smart Keyboard

Uses the goofy old Apple Pencil ; A design that’s getting rather tired ; Only two speakers

iPad Air review

The iPad Air is incredibly thin and light, and it's the most comfortable 10-inch tablet we've used. It also comes with a nice boost in performance while maintaining good battery life.

A7 chip offers fast performance ; Thinner and lighter than before ; Global LTE support ; Long battery life

Touch ID not included ; Retina display is good, but no longer the best

Surprise: the iPad Air is the best iPad we've reviewed. In addition, though, it's also the most comfortable 10-inch tablet we've ever tested. Not every manufacturer can produce a thin and light device without also making it feel cheap or flimsy, but...

Apple iPad Air (2019) review

This could be the best tablet in the whole iPad family

Excellent all-round video ; Solid, weighty audio ; Big, HDR-compatible screen

Awkward speaker placement ; Mini has higher pixel density

If you’re in the market for a tablet for movies and music on the go, there isn’t currently anything better out there

Apple iPad Air 2019 review: the top tablet for 90% of people

The last-gen iPad Pro is back with a new name, having lost a few features… and a few hundred pounds

More than enough power on offer ; 10.5-inch TrueTone screen is great for portable work ; Thin and light ; Excellent app ecosystem

Shame it’s last-gen Apple Pencil ; An OLED screen would be nice ; Speakers a bit measly

Apple iPad Air (2019)

The new iPad Air is a tablet that works best with a keyboard case as a pseduo-laptop for anyone who wants a basic PC with Apple's software elegance.

Fast performance. Slim, light design. Nice display. Works with Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard case.

Camera could be better. There are a lot of other iPad choices right now.

Apple's iPad lineup has gotten pretty granular this year, but it's relatively clear to me who each of the models is for and why.

Apple iPad Air 2019 review: happy medium

A good step up from the basic iPad.

Fast processor ; Excellent screen ; Keyboard connector

First-gen Apple Pencil support only ; Speakers only on one side ; Touch ID isn’t as convenient as Face ID

I initially had a lot of questions about what “Air” meant after Apple brought back the moniker for this iPad and the MacBook Air. But after using this iPad, I think I finally get it. This is what Air is supposed to mean now: the best all-around choice...

Apple iPad Air review

Crisper picture with brighter whites and better blacks ; More open, dynamic and subtler sound ; Faster and more powerful ; Beautiful build ; Great selection of apps ; Good battery life

Camera’s colours aren’t as natural as before ; Slimmer bezel means more thumbs on screen

Product of the Year, Awards 2014. With improvements everywhere, the iPad Air is a stunning piece of technology that’s a joy to use

Apple iPad Air (2019) review: The best balance of features and price?

The 2019 model is very similar to the previous generation Pro, but now with Pencil support. Does it make more sense than buying an iPad Pro?

Powerful and speedy performance ; Battery will last a full day ; Pro features like Pencil and Smart Keyboard support are great ; IPadOS improves the experience

Additional accessories aren't cheap ; TouchID over FaceID ; No Type-C port

The latest Air is much like the iPad Pro in all but name. So if you can live without the FaceID, uniform bezels and Type-C port offered by the current Pro, then this 10.5-inch iPad is a compelling offering. Especially considering its sub-£500 price point.

The best iPad in 2019 for most punters

Gorgeous screen

Should really have four speakers

The iPad Air offers a premium tablet experience for a lot less money than the Pro
